I am running for USDD School Board because public schools are the heart of our community.
Facilities
I participated in the Facilities Task Force, and supported both of the District referendums in 2024. I fully endorse the Task Force’s recommendation to build a new high school, balancing community input with a commitment to fiscal responsibility.
Books
It is important that materials are age-appropriate in both the curriculum and our school libraries. While I stand against book banning, I support the current USDD policies that gives parents the opportunity to opt-out and challenge books they deem inappropriate.
Retaining Our Teachers
I am committed to supporting our teachers who are our greatest asset. I will advocate for competitive salaries, professional development opportunities, and the resources they need. By valuing and empowering our teachers we invest in the success of our students and stengthen the future of our community.
Technology
I will consider how we use technology in the classroom and the impact it has on our students’ learning and mental health. Our community survey will provide more input to help guide any changes to our cell phone use policies.
Mental Health
The USDD community surveys, the Flight Path 2033 Plan, and national trends all highlight the critical importance of schools supporting mental health initiatives. As a participant in Caregiver peer support programs, and as a healthcare provider, I understand the profound impact of mental health resources for both students and employees. I remain committed to prioritizing and maintaining these vital services.
Community Support
I deeply value the strong bond between our schools and the community. Through volunteer initiatives and collaborative work opportunities, we have fostered a mutually beneficial relationship with the people and businesses in our district. I am committed to building on this foundation by expanding opportunities to support our residents, staff, and students.
